Tel Aviv’s homes range from the listed Bauhaus apartment buildings of the White City, many restored with new floors on their roofs, to the low houses of Neve Tzedek, renovated stone houses in Jaffa and the towers rising along the main roads and by the sea.

Every purchase runs through a lawyer, and the rules for buyers who are not Israeli residents, including the purchase tax, are set by the state: take advice from an Israeli lawyer independent of the seller before you commit.

Where people look

The White City and Rothschild, Neve Tzedek, Old Jaffa and Ajami, the Old North and the new towers: see our property guide.

The first steps

An Israeli lawyer, a check of the land registry, and advice on the purchase tax that applies to you. We never publish prices.

Walk a neighbourhood on a Friday morning and again on a weekday evening before you choose.

Our advice: in the White City, ask whether a building is listed for preservation before you plan any works.
